Hi,

I used a generic car charger to charge my 3GS. When I connected it for charging, the phone shut down. I could restart the phone, but the phone started getting warm and was discharging at about 1% per min. Before it could go down any further, I shut it down and tried to start after 20 minutes, but the phone won't charge.

These are the things I tried:
1. Held the power button and home button for about 30 seconds. It didn't help.
2. Switched the vibrate/mute button on the side for about 4 times and did #1 above. No change.

Questions:
1. Any other ideas. What are my options to get it working (Other than the $80 battery replacement service offered by Apple).
2. What could have caused this. I have used generic chargers before and this particular one caused an issue. This is what the charger looks like http://tinyurl.com/74smqr4

Thanks.
PS: I used an android phone with the same charger and similar thing happened. The phone used to shut down, but it didn't affect its battery. The android phone took that well.
