3GS compass

I wonder if the compass on the 3GS can orient the screen while your phone is sitting flat. Right now the screen will only flip if the phone is tilted upwards. IF the compass can make this happen that would be epic.

by the way....no. that won't happen.

if you sit at a table with your phone flat in front of you, how does your phone know where you are? it's a compass, it knows where north is, not where you're situated in relation to it so how will it know?
