3GS for 3G swap

if i was eligible for the $199/$299 3GS.

let's say I was going to get the $99 3G phone, but someone with that same phone wanted the 3GS, would he be able to pay the upgrade and swap me phones, allowing me to get the 3G for free, and him only paying $299 for the 3GS?

should work fine, i am planning on doing a swap also. Tested a swap between a 2g and 3g today and it worked fine.

Thats what I do. My fiancee has a 2g (mine before 3g), I have a 3G. She is eligible for an upgrade so we will order a 3Gs under her then I'll take the 3Gs she will take the 3G. Next year I will be eligible, the year after that she will again. Perfect system.

Exactly. And at&t thinks we're gonna pay up to $700 to upgrade...I think not.

yup...thats all you have to do. the 3g and 3gs both have the $30 data plan so there are no differences. just swap the sim cards and your good to go. that is what I'm doing as well.

Same here man, I love that my wife is ok with getting a year old phone every year to keep me happy!
