3GS freezing

My 32gig 3 GS phone has started freezing since I updated to 4.1 . Today it froze while ringing, but usually it freezes after I push the home button to turn it on. I must do a hard reset, then restart. The restart takes a long time, then the phone works fine for a day or so. It freezes almost every day now.

I backed it up, did a restore and reinstalled 4.1 but it made no difference.

Phone is stock, not jailbroken or unlocked.

the user data after the update bust have been corrupted, or simply doesn't like the update for whatever reason. Restore the phone as new.

Be sure to import all appropriate data first like contacts, calendars, purchases... what have you. That should be a given.
