3Gs iCal default alert

I am having a problem with iCal on my 3Gs turning on a "10 min before" alert after I have Saved the event with "None" highlighted. I close it, then open it back up; it now has changed to the 10 min alert. I go back in, hit "None" and re-save it, it now stays as None. Frustrating. Can't find a menu that would change a default or something, plus the fact that it's changing what I saved! Help! Thx
