Hey guys,
I ran the new jailbreak and installed ultrasn0w (or blacksn0w, I forget now), popped in my wife's T-Mobile card and I am totally in! I am on an iPhone 3GS with 4.0 firmware.
I turned the cell phone extender I have off, which is normally the only thing that lets me at least sometimes use my iPhone indoors (without the extender its hopeless).
Getting 2-3 bars of reception on T-Mobile (though I'm on iOS 4.0, so that may be incorrect), but getting clear call quality. With AT&T, I'd have no service or hovering around 1 bar, many drops, and terrible call quality (especially with the extender off).
I can't test data since my wife doesn't have a data plan, but I imagine that should be no problem if calling works. I will march myself down to a T-Mobile store tomorrow and port my number over.
I'll have to pay a termination fee (probably around $90 since I am just a little over halfway done with my contract), but I'll be saving around $20 a month so that will pay for itself pretty quickly. Not to mention I'll actually be able to use my phone, which is priceless. I will finally have a phone that makes calls!
GOOD BYE AT&T!!!! THANK YOU DEV TEAM AND ALL THE PEOPLE WHO MADE THE JAILBREAK HAPPEN!!!!
