Were you previously jailbroken and saved your SHSH blobs using Cydia or TinyUmbrella? If it's a "no" to that, then you're out of luck unfortunately.

If you upgraded using iTunes you have an unlockable baseband. Not possible to downgrade the baseband.
There may be an updated unlock come out in November.

Ah figured as much but thanks, and no I didn't save it, my son did it without talking to me

Let's cut to the chase: tell us what version of modem firmware is on your phone right now? If it's 5.14.02 you are !@#$%#. Next time count to 10 and reflect before updating.

OP said his son did it without checking. It happens. ie. happened to me too. I can JB at 4.1, but I lose all phone data (ie. i can't send/receive calls, messages).

People are way too quick to snark on MR, sometimes.

you can go back to 4.0 if you saved your hashes, BUT the phone will still be using the newer 4.1 BB and that can't be unlocked, so you are SOL for now....
