3gS only with data plan?

so i had a 3g sold it went to a black berry (free phone from work) im thinking of just adding an extra line to my family acc. and i was woundering if i can just add the data plan but not voice on att? i know i cant jailbreak or unlock the 3gs right now but once i can, will i be able to switch my sim from my bb to the iphone and will it work properly?

i dont think you can do it with no voice
but adding a line is $10/month
so it'd essentially be an extra $40/month your paying
and then you have an emergency line, to use for whatever you can think of
