3GS referb... With the old Bootrom!!!

So I just got back from the apple store to replace my 3gs that aparantly had water damage. (When i first go the phone, the earphone jack was pink, at no fault of my own. raged a lot, but eventually got over it. It reverted back to white somehow, and now has pocket lint all over it.. )

Anyway, the Genius looked inside, and approved my replacement.

I was initially very excited because it came back at 3.1.3 and I figured I could just JB with Spirit.

Not only that, but when I got it home, I realized my bootrom was 359.3! My old phone had the old bootrom!

Awesome day.

What are my options now? I've been used to never ever having and option due to having the new bootrom.

Can I JB 4.0.1?

You can JB it on 3.1.3 with spirit.
Then spirit2pwne from cydia and then update to custom 4.0 IPSW created with pwnage.
Or wait some more time for the new JB to be out for 4.0.1
In that case it wont even matter if you have the old or new bootrom.

Time to do some reading.

Of course as AJ says, old bootrom likely won't be as important as it once was since new tools are due out anytime, maybe even today.

And bootrom will have no effect

Run spirit2pwn and then restore to custom 4.0. Worked perfectly on my old bootrom 3GS before I sold it.

Woww. Just jailbroke 3.1.3, and it gets even better.

My phone had the SHSH stored for 3.1 (never even used it on my old phone) 3.1.2, 3.1.3 and 4.0....

Soooo awesome.
