So, I'm at my friends house, and he has a PC. I know how to get the tethering feature working on my Mac, but I have no idea how to connect to his PC. I have already set up tethering, I just need to know how to connect to the PC.
i had to install itunes on my vista laptop to get tethering to work. without itunes it couldn't properly recognize the iphone. that was a bit disapointing, as i had hoped it would work through some standard drivers. that is using my USB cable btw, haven't tried bluetooth.
it's probably the same for my XP PCs but i never tried, as they don't need tethering

Yup, you need iTunes on an XP machine too. It adds a mobile device driver that you need I believe. I tried to get my XP netbook to tether without iTunes, but it was a non-starter. Stuck iTunes on and away it went no problem.
I Was wondering the same thing...I've downloaded and installed the profile from Ben.M.at, I've enabled tethering on my phone (3G OS3.0), but nothing happens when I hook it up via USB to my PC laptop. I didn't want to install iTunes on this laptop since its a work laptop. I use my desktop to do updates, music, videos, and podcasts via iTunes. I guess the only way to do it is creating an Ad-Hoc network and using Wi-Fi ??????
What happens when I connect my iPhone to a computer with iTunes but it's not the one I use to sync? (Different music files...etc) I guess syncing it will erase everything. Is there a limit to how many machines I can sinc my phone too?
