I succesfully repaired a 5th gen ipod so i decided to step up the game and attempt to repair a Iphone. I was given a free iphone with a cracked touchscreen. The guy told me it was a 3G not knowing that it was NOT a 3G, but was actually a 3Gs. I ordered a new digitizer touchscreen for a 3G and installed it onto the phone. I thought i had all the connectors together but one was not connected because it was the wrong part for the phone. i put the phone together and turned it on and a scrambled screen appeared. It looked as if the LCD broke in the process. I then realized that i had a Iphone 3Gs. I ordered a white front assembly for an Iphone 3Gs and installed it on to the phone. So far the phone will not turn on but when i plug it in via PC or Wall charger through an ipod cable. The battery charging icon appears but remains as red sliver and wont charge past that. When i unplug the iphone it gives me the icon of low battery and to plug in phone.

Im curious to know if I caused further damaged the motherboard by installing the incorrect screen and attempting to boot the phone. If anyone has an ideas on how to diagnose this problem, please let me know.
