3gs Yellow Screen of Death HELP!

Hi there guys, I've got my mates phone thats got the yellow screen of death, I've tried, putting it in DFU mode holding Home/power button and restarting it etc... also disconnected the battery but still yellow screen, iTunes doesn't pick it up either? any ideas apart from take it to the genius bar because i can't afford to get it fixed.
