3rd gen iPad glass lifting

The glass on the right side of my iPad is lifting, and surprisingly high, as even my dad who has useless eyes could see it at once. Obviously, I'll have to go through the whole Genius thing, but considering we're about seven hours away from a possible third-gen update, should I delay my visit a few weeks and try my luck at acquiring an updated one? I wouldn't be afraid to ask.

Don't expect to receive an updated iPad via a warranty replacement. Devices are always replaced with exactly the same model until the device is no longer available in inventory and that could be a few years out for the iPad 3rd generation.
