3rd Gen Time capsule - max disk size for upgrade

Did anybody have success upgrading his Time Capsule 3rd Generation (MB996LL - A1302) to 4TB or bigger?

If so what disk did you use and is it reliably spinning down?

My disk seems to be failing so I want to replace it.
