My battery is dying right now and I'm wondering, should I should go the after-market route or Apple's route in buying a replacement? Seems like I can save up to $30 with a 3rd party battery but I don't know how reliable they are. Any comment?

P.S. I have no warranty (stupid me).

I have two third party batteries for my mbp, and they work nicely (saved money). What system do you have? There are certainly 3rd party options that will work out fine.

I got batteries from Fastmac. Here's a review for their Macbook battery. Here's a link to their store. It looks like a Fastmac battery for your MB will cost $99 vs. $129 for an Apple replacement battery. I haven't tested mine to see if their higher capacity claims are valid, but can vouch for the fact that they work just as well as the Apple brand. Good luck to you. :)

Thanks for the input! I think I'll go ahead and buy a 3rd party battery to support my future university life.
