It doesn't show the "charging" icon. Just the "charged" icon. Even though the battery percent is at 85%.

But if I switch to my laptop or Apple charger, it works just fine... Whats the deal? Does the iPhone 4 require a certain type of USB charger? Specific wattage or something?
 
Some cables are weird. I had one that when charging would make the phone crazy! I'd try to type and itd register I hit some other random button, all kinds of craziness but when I used my Griffin cable, or the OEM one it was fine. Cheap cables have WEIRD affects

You sort of answered your own question by saying "Third party."
 
My Sony iPhone compatible Alarm clock is doing the same thing with my iPhone 4... Never had an issue with the 3G or 3GS

except it charges it to a random % then says its full charged (even though it isn't)... this only happens when the iPhone is turned off.. if it's on it charges to 100%.....
