3rd Party external DVD drive for Bootcamp install?

Hey everyone, is this possible on my 27inch iMac or does it have to be the apple SuperDrive.

if you have a newer iMac without internal DVD drive, yes, you can use an external for installation;
if you have an older iMac with an DVD drive, that is defect, there are workarounds to use an external.
