3rd party icons....where saved?

Just set up my Lacie external drive.
When it mounted it had a nice Lacie icon, but when I formatted it, it changed to standard Apple external drive.

Will the Lacie one be saved somewhere...?

The icon is saved on the drive (or was).

It didn't show.
I copied the usual install apps and warranty to another disk.

The icon is stored in a hidden file on the drive. If you didn't show hidden files when making the copy...
