I have an unlocked iPhone 3G which I bought from Italy last year. Unfortunately, the battery has gone and the phone won't charge properly. It's still under warranty, but Apple UK don't want to know and can only advise me to send it back to Italy for a hardware problem.

This isn't something I'm terribly comfortable doing. My initial attempts at contacting the place I got it from did not go well so rather than risk it going walkabout, I'd rather just stump up the cash to get a new battery put in. It'll be about the same as the postage anyway.

Does anyone know of any reliable 3rd party Apple iPod / iPhone repair centres in the UK? I've found a couple on Google etc. and can see batteries for sale in several places but I've no way to gauge their reliability. Some of the websites concerned look rather sketchy so any accounts of past experiences good or bad will be a great help.

Thanks very much!
