3rd party unlocking services for the iPhone 5??

There are tons of unofficial unlocking services for the older iPhones. They apparently can unlock it even though you are carrier locked. Usually you send them an IMEI number and they have you unlocked within hours. Does anyone know how theses services work and do you think it will work if you give them an iPhone 5 IMEI number?
