I bought a 1TB external Fantom drive a few years ago and it has been working flawlessly. Then why not buying a 3TB?
I did in 2013 April. It worked well till up to December, when it started ejecting by itself. I did not think too much of it, but by now, the 3TB Fantom does not even want to read in any data. It keeps on ejecting itself, disappearing from my desktop (MAC) and it only comes back to life if I turn it off and on again.
However, then it takes a lifetime for the file structure to show up in Finder. I "verified" it, then I used the "repair disk" utility: no progress. It still keeps on ejecting.
I thought it might be the OS (10.6.8), but then why can the 1TB work flawlessly and the 3TB can't?
Heeeeeeeelp! The 3TB keeps on "thinking", but so incredibly sloooooooooow, that it makes it impossible to work with it at all...
