I'm creating this thread for the purpose of understanding whether the 3TB HDD in the Fusion drive is slower or faster than the 1TB model.

According to the user "barefeats" and his testing the 1TB HDD is actually faster, and yes he does take the manufacturer into consideration.
His QuickBench results can be found HERE.
But at the same time many people state that 3TB HDD are generally faster for various reasons.

Therefore I think it would be great if other users could contribute with benchmark results, from the 1TB or the 3TB HDD (the ones that come with the fusion drives). It would definitely help future buyers. :)

I have yet to receive my iMac, but I will post some benchmark results as soon as possible.
 
Surely people choose to buy either, the 1TB or 3TB fusion drive, based on storage requirements, rather than performance.
Yes. However, that doesn't make the performance of the HDD unimportant. If I were going for optimal performance, I would like to know which HDD is the fastest. :)
