4.0 to 4.1.1 but not 4.2

I just purchased an Apple TV and wish to use XBMC. there are windows programs that will allow me to do this with firmware 4.1.1 but nothing for 4.2 since its new. is there anyway to upgrade my apple tv from 4.0 to 4.1.1 with out using the itunes updater which is trying to update it to 4.2
