4,1->5,1 system here with 2 superdrives installed.

When the computer sleeps every so often at a regular interval I can hear the optical drive make noise, almost like the computer is polling it to see if there is a disc inserted. Probably happens every 5-7 minutes.

The problem is that I run a PLEX server on this machine and it interrupts and pauses the playback on my TV at the same interval so the computer is doing something. The pause probably lasts 10 seconds. It is very annoying. I have no idea what is going on, I have tried all the power save settings but no fix yet.

High Sierra, 6-core single proc.

Thanks

I'm not sure of the answer to that, as it seems neither of my optical drives exhibit this polling behavior. I do remember having the annoying trait years ago when running windows. Perhaps I still do and I'm just not aware of it.

Anyway, a google search turns up the link below. It's old now and may no longer be relevant but worth reading to see if it applies you. If not, perhaps it will lead you to a search path that will help. Have a read...
