Last night I charged my phone to 100% from a dead battery, was finished around 2am. I used twitter and played a little fruit ninja, made a couple calls today and used some WiFi. I turned on my battery percentage and it was 47%...

Pre 4.1 I would still have around 70% left. Anyone else?

Try some resets on the reset settings screen as you seem fit...
If nothing helps then restore from NEW instead of using your backup to see if it makes a difference...

Mine has always been good and I cant say its changed at all when upgrading to the GM.

Am on 4.0.2

From 100% overnight charge to 66% in 5 hrs, have sent two text messages and very minimal use.

Will try resets etc and see if there is a difference, can you tell if anything is 'running in the background' that's using up the battery?

I turn off wifi during the day but push is active.

Had the same issue over the weekend. Overnight (10hrs) I was losing about 40% battery with 4.1

Restored yesterday as a new phone (still using 4.1), last night it dropped between 5 and 10%.

The restore option seems to do the trick.

I haven't had any issues with the battery since updating to 4.1. I don't think i've had any problems at all since upgrading (nor did i have any prior). I do really feel bad for those of you who run into problems, especially the ones who have had problem after problem. I wish you all the best of luck getting issues worked out.

That's interesting, I've actually noticed a slight increase in battery life going from 4.0 -> 4.1.

Restored as new again last night, still dropping faster.

When my phone is naked or just using a bumper I got great battery life compared to the Incipio NGP. Could heat build up within the case cause this or am I just a nut job... wait don't answer that. :p

Here is my battery right now post 4.1

My battery life has been pretty awful as well with 4.1. I'm at 2h40m usage with 60% left and 20 minutes of that is iPod. We're approaching 3GS levels.

when you restore from new, does that mean you have to put all contacts in , the apps and the music by hand? Because I might have to try that. Thanks :)

You would be able to sync anything that is stored in iTunes automatically (like your music and Apps), but ALL data like your emails and the settings within Apps would be lost.

It's a real hassle.

Not really, as fast as the iPhone 4 is restoring as new and reloading apps and songs only takes me 10-15min tops. That's 256 apps and 4 gigs of music.

I didn't say that was a hassle.

I said that going through and logging in to loads of apps, having to recover the progress you've made in games etc. is a hassle.

Yea, I hear ya! I hope GameCenter saves your progress on it's server so if I have to restore I don't lose all my Angry Birds levels etc...

Game Center doesn't support that feature.

Angry Birds was only shown as a demo game.

Skype was used to demo iOS4's multitasking back in April, yet it didn't support multitasking until July.

I'm wondering if I had downloaded a bad .ispw file.

I restored as new with the downloaded file from apple today and my battery life is back to 4.02 status. Used all morning and still have 93% battery life!
