The BT part we at least know for sure as it works in beta 3. Never having had the prox sensor issue on my test phones, I can't verify anything about that.

If 4.1 doesn't fix it, I'm just going to try my luck and return my phone and try to get a replacement from Apple in October. Unfortunately I don't have an Apple store nearby and I've heard a lot of reports that they have no issues with their replacements. Maybe it's the placebo effect but this proximity sensor issue is getting very annoying.

We can only hope. But it would be another embarresment for Apple if it doesn't after Jesus Jobs said it would.

Remember - we've not had a beta in a month now so there's bound to be a GM soon that we can test on.

I hope so. I find it surprising that they wouldnt have released this fix in a beta already, unless they have a stable full of people with ears that set this off.

dev's should seed replies today. will be interesting to see their replies and feedback.

What's the bluetooth fix? For me using A2DP headphones is very spotty, I can be 10 feet away and get a lot of cut outs with my ip4, so I'm hoping this is what it fixes. Used to get insane distances and no cut outs with same headphones and my 3gs.

Also the way it handles calls is horrible, but I think this is more ios4. If I am on an A2DP headset and I receive a call it refuses to let go of my headset, even if I hit iphone as the source. I have to completely shut off the headset to make a call on the ip4.

The proximity issues were so sporadic...it'll likely be 2 or 3 days before people can give good reports on how much it's improved, right?

I don't know. Would have been nice if Apple had said what they'd done to "fix" it.

Mine is almost done syncing with the GM now. I'll post back if it fixes any[every]thing

as far as i understood it was to resolve the 'underwater' sounding effect and to enable controls via bluetooth headset

I have two phones and both have serious issues. I can't tell you how many times I've hung up, put someone on speaker, conferenced someone, attempted to facetime, etc...

The problem needs to be fixed for good.
