I was at 4.2.1 JB state earlier.
I tried to update my iPhone 4 to 4.3.1 but during the restoration process
on my iPhone the bar under the apple logo only goes halfway and is stuck there for half an hour.

what should i do??

I'm very clueless at this.
i only got an error on iTunes saying error 1013..?

Very simple. This has nothing to do with the JB. You were updating to 4.3.1 and it died? Now you need to do a restore of your phone and then you can restore your apps settings etc from your last backup.

I got the IPSW from Clarified. and well i have an iPhone 4.
so i'm guessing an iPhone 4 baseband not an iPad?

tried doing that still not going through...
should i just update through iTunes? and not from the IPSW i got from iclarified?

I am having the same exact issue upgrading to 4.3.1 from 4.0.1 through iTunes. iPhone hangs during install little more than halfway through. Also no errors are being shown.

Did you change your host file?

I just put a # in front of the gs.apple

i have two gs.apple and all i did was put a # in front of it.
saved it Control+O and then Enter
Control + X

then i tried restoring it...
still doing the halfway thing.

Tried from both iTunes and the IPSW i downloaded.

Hmmm, it appears mine is doing the same thing, hanging at about 60%, did you resolve your problem?

Restored under bootcamp with no issues, syncing with my SL iTunes now.

Yeah i just used another computer and it worked
but then just had the worst news ever..
anyways not going to put my personal life out here, but wow way to get things working again. :(

Just use another computer/or bootcamp and you'll be fine
