4:3 or 16:9 photo taking

Just upgraded from a X to a Pro Max. Curious what is better for taking photos: 4:3 or 17:9 ratio?
 
The wider ratio is nice for landscapes and a cinematic look, but 4:3 makes more sense for portraits.
