It's up to 4-5 weeks now for shipping, how is Apple going to have enough to successfully launch in other countries if they don't even have enough for U.S.?

I think they're already stockpiling for the international releases, hence the short supply of AT&T models in the US and the higher quantity of Verizon models. I could see them cutting down on the number of countries they are releasing in on the 25th. It could also be that the US market is not the end-all, be-all of the world.

I think the first responder is right. The reason for the long delay for shipping is because of the international launch. Apple wants to make sure its international fans get a shot at the iPad 2 soon.

I wonder if iPad ship dates are as inaccurate as the Smart Cover ship dates?

I ordered two Smart Covers the afternoon of the launch was was given these ship dates:
Ships: Mar 25
Delivers Mar 30 by Standard Shipping

They've both already shipped, with delivery by Mar 22nd, ... 8 days ahead of the estimated delivery date.
