I don't think apple would go for a 4.6 screen.

"SEOUL (Reuters) - Apple Inc's new iPhone will have a sharper and bigger 4.6-inch "retina" display and is set to be launched around the second quarter, a South Korean media reported on Thursday.

Sales of the iPhone, first introduced in 2007 with the touch screen template now adopted by its rivals, account for around half Apple's total sales.

Apple has decided on the bigger 4.6-inch display for its next iPhone and started placing orders to its suppliers, the Maeil Business Newspaper said, quoting an unnamed industry source.

Its major display suppliers LG Display and Samsung Electronics Co declined to comment.

Samsung, which is also the biggest challenger to Apple in smartphones, uses 4.6-inch OLED display for its flagship Galaxy S II smartphone, introduced in April last year.

The high-definition "retina" display--containing several times as many pixels within the same area-- is used in the latest iPad released earlier this month."

Too radical to go from 3.5" to 4.6". I personally wouldn't want that big a phone. 4.0" sounds about right. :)

I bet it stays the same! Apple has Defended there 3.5" size and though I love Apple they are stubborn! When your the number 1 company in the world any majors decisions are tougher. but we can always use another fantasy thread I guess.

I'd pay triple to get a 4.6 inch iPhone. I want it that bad.

I mean I REALLY want it.

Zero chance that the next iPhone will be any bigger than 4". That's if it's any bigger at all.

Even though this is a rumor site and I would expect to hear this
kind of thing, I would definitely say that 4.6 is way too big.

I'm in the camp that 4" to 4.3" is about right (leaning toward 4")

But this topic was made before that.

The other one did well because it was on the front page. I doubt we'll have much luck trying to get them to merge that thread into this one. :)

I thought it useful to let people viewing this thread know that they can see more opinions and stuff on the other thread.

I really don't want my phone to be any bigger than it is. If they do go to a larger screen, I hope they make a smaller one along side it for people like me who prefer their phone to be as small as possible. I think the current screen is a good compromise of screen size, while trying to keep the phone from being to big. Before my first iPhone (3G) I had a razr and loved it.

If it is 4.6", all of you will buy it anyways.

There have been some studies done recently with the results showing that most consumers want bigger screens. With the industry moving towards bigger screens on mobile handsets, I'd be surprised if Apple tries to stick it out with a 3.5" screen (which people said was too big when the iPhone first came out...).

No, there has been ONE survey done by some company called strategy analytics, that everyone and their mother refers to (and you can buy this report for just $1,999)

They also defended that we don't need MMS because we have email, jailbreaking is/should be illegal, and that any app that remotely duplicates the functionality of something already in iOS should not be allowed into the appstore at one time. Things change, people and companies learn. They have defended the 3.5" screen, but we should realize that is marketing. When asked about your product, you are not about to say "yeah we do run a 3.5" screen but boy howdy do thos 4"+ screens on our competitors devices ever look nice!" Defend what you sell, not the competition. It's pretty simple.
