Even though there's still one week until Black Friday, we're tracking a number of all-time low prices on iPads today. This also includes record lows on iPad accessories like the Magic Keyboard.

iPads

Starting with the 9th generation iPad, Amazon has the 64GB Wi-Fi model for $249.00, down from $329.00. This is a match of the best price we've ever tracked on this iPad, and it's a great entry-level option for kids or family members who don't need a tablet for intensive tasks.

Amazon also has the 10th generation iPad at an all-time low price, and this one is a new deal for Black Friday 2023. The 64GB Wi-Fi model has hit $349.00, down from $449.00, which is $50 below the typical price we've been tracking all year.

Switching to the iPad Air, Amazon is discounting the 2022 64GB Wi-Fi tablet to $499.99, down from $599.00. It's another best-ever price, and it's one of many iPad Air deals that have appeared for Black Friday. You can also find cellular markdowns on Amazon right now.

There aren't many record low prices on the iPad Pro lineup, but Amazon does have the 128GB Wi-Fi 12.9-inch model for $999.00, down from $1,099.00, which remains the best price we've tracked to date.

" Intensive Tasks"?

Geez. That is the only at $249 iPad that about 99.9% of us really need and probably the only true bargain in the apple world.

I think the iPad 10 at $349 is a pretty good deal. It's $150 less than the Air, and most people will never notice the difference.

I have been looking at these pretty closely to determine the best option. I think the iPad Air is the current sweet spot.

The laminated screen, Apple Pencil 2 support, and going from 4gb -> to 8gb of ram are some pretty big quality of life/future proofing improvements. Not to mention the significant processor/horsepower gains.

The iPad Air is about 90% of the iPad Pro. If you don't care about the cameras, the only noticeable difference would be the ProMotion and slightly larger screen. So the bang for the buck is pretty decent.

IMO the current iPad Air should basically be the future iPad SE as costs come down and they can drop all the somewhat compromised models that are the current lower priced ones.

The current Pad lineup is way too messy as constructed.

The ipad air is really the only ipad anyone would ever need. Buying any lower and you give up key features, buy any higher and there just isnt the same value for money. I still like that they keep the cheaper iPads around mind… even without certain features they are what most people want in a tablet.

Costco is advertising the 11" M2 Pro for $699 beginning 11/20 and running through the Thanksgiving weekend. Not a bad deal, as that's $100 off of everyone else's normal price on that ($50 off Costco's regular price for it).
All storage skus?

Imaging spending $1,000 on an iPad and only getting 128GB

I was gifted a 256GB cellular 12.9 iPad Pro with the “Magic” keyboard and it still astounds me how eye wateringly expensive this thing was for what it is. I like it, but if it ever completely breaks there is no way I could justify that much money for it.

And the reason I was given it, by the way, is the person who bought it believed Apple when they said it would be a suitable portable work computer. The cellular was the kicker. This person likes to take physical notes so also bought the Pencil (which I never use even though I tried to get used to it.) They gave it to me and got a Surface tablet. Personally I can’t stand Surface tablets, but I also don’t try to use this iPad for work and use my Mac instead.

I don’t think that Surface tablet has cellular or a Pencil but it’s far more suitable for the kind of work this person does. For an artist or someone who really does heavy work with the Pencil or absolutely needs to type from anywhere and not much more, it would be great (if still shockingly expensive for that task.)

I still don’t see how it’s better for the money than a MacBook Air.

Imagine selling a 1200 MacBook Air with 8 GB of RAM
But the thing is, this spec is fine for someone with a basic set of needs and will probably run fine for the next 4 years or so. Actually, that Apple are still selling this spec suggests Apple will have to optimise their OS for this memory spec, since all of their Macs except the higher models use this.. and they are by far the vast majority of Macs sold. So they have a duty to these millions of customers.

Basically, since Apple make the software and the hardware, they are in the best position to optimise their software for this level of RAM. The only time this becomes a problem is when you're running 'Pro' or memory intensive software on it.. but in that case you'd have known that when buying and would have bought a higher spec Mac, or a PC thats easier to upgrade and modify.

In short.. the vast majority of consumers are fine, and will be fine with 8 GB RAM. The price of a Mac is more than just for that 8 GM RAM.. you're buying into the design, the software, the ecosystem etc.. Apple do a lot of research and all of the components in that Mac have been designed for quality, performance, tolerance and longevity.

It can also be said that it also forces software developers to optimise their code more. This can be a positive aspect.

eh…. I’m not buying that. Take a video game - the things a developer needs to do to optimize it for a certain performance target on 8GB is effectively going to yield an impoverished version of the same game optimized to the same performance target but with 16gb to work with

Well, for a game I think they would probably not even bother to port it, nevermind optimize it for Apple. So I guess it would be unlikely you’d be able to buy it in any case.

I was referring to regular software, not gaming software

And in any case, they do this for games consoles since the beginning of the games console era. The developers have to optimize software to run on the most popular consoles of the time. It happened generation after generation. And in some cases they become so good at optimizing for a certain console, that the games actually improve on it to the point the best games visually are towards the end of the consoles life.

My best iPad deal today was that I bought the maxed out 6th gen 12,9 iPad Pro (cellular model, 1 TB) brand new for nearly half its price.
