Heaven or Hell
i have an old 17" Macbook Pro 2.16 Ghz model
and went to OWC website to upgrade RAM from 2 GB to 4 GB,
but for some reason it says that this model can only take 2 GB.......

Is that wrong, ? i am sure it can take 4 GB of RAM .....

Correction: 2.16GHz, 17". This is clearly a Core Duo MacBook Pro. (The Rev. B, Core 2 Duo 17" was 2.33GHz model). Sorry mate, you're stuck at 2. the 2.33GHz model can take 3GB, but if you stick in 4GB it can take 3.3. 2.4GHz and above 17" MacBook Pros can take 6GB. Technically it can take 8, but for some reason this severely slows the machine.

If yours is the Core Duo (and not the Core 2 Duo) then it can only take 2 gb. Anything more and it will not boot because Apple screwed the memory controller.
