I installed 4 gig of ram on my macbook pro what I see under a heavy load (10) apps. open at the same time my CPU usage is very low with about 1.5 to 2 gig of memory usage. Being my CPU is not being pushed as hard it looks like my temp (Via) I-Stat pro has come down some 4 to 5 degrees then it used to with 2 gig of ram. My question is does the additional memory help take a load off the CPU?

More RAM does decrease the load on a CPU due to the fact that memory swapping out to the page file is reduced. It also means that less data is written to the hard disk which leads to reduced disk activity.

Obviously you have to use applications that are memory hungry to see any major difference.
