Exactly this. They can increase the screen size, change the home button and still maintain nearly the same overall phone size.
Voted for 3.5 inch as I assume the device will get larger if it had a 4" screen. I like the size the way it is and don't want the device any larger.
Smartphones have reintroduced size issues related to mobile phones. Until 10 years ago (possibly less) if I wanted my mobile phone with me I had to carry it. It wouldn't fit neatly in my pockets with all my other stuff. This phenomenon is reemerging.
The smartphone is the new man purse. Men everywhere are carrying them for both function and style. Soon we'll see men with shoulder strap lanyards wearing their large screen phones like a purse and the feminization of the male species will be complete.
I'd prefer a similar sized device. A larger screen would be great if the size of the device does not increase proportionally.

I second that... Either way I'm down with it. I'm happy with what I have, but am always looking for the next thing. I do not want the overall size of the iPhone to get any bigger, actually I would be happier with a slightly smaller one.

Don't be over dramatic. We're talking about maybe 1/4"-3/16" at most. Couldn't tell the difference in the dark.

And I think a 326ppi 4" is one of the least likely alternatives, since it would be totally new resolution for developers to deal with, and wouldn't be an even scaling from any of the current resolutions.
Personally I'm fine with the current resolution and screen size. The iPhone's physical shape is the perfect size, I wouldn't want it any bigger or smaller, and that size screen is about the biggest and most dense you're going to get.
