The company I work for had an employee leave last week under less then favorable terms. It seems he left us with an EFI locked 2011 macbook pro. My question is, this has the standard padlock picture with a long window under it . is there any way to tell if that is a 4 or 6 digit pin just by the screen ?

It can be a password of *any* length ;).

Take it to an apple store with proof of ownership and they can get a reset code for it. Normally takes 5 days or so though as it has to be generated.
