I have an older g5 tower and was wondering if anyone out there had tried to max out the ram in it. it is a dual processor (2ghz), but only has 4 ram slots. I have 4 gig's of ram currently but I am trying to replace the other two 256K chips with 2-2gig chips. I have tried to find 400ddr 2 gig chips but cannot find them anywhere. Suggestions?

There isn't any. the only 400ddr 2GB sticks are ECC, which are not compatible with our G5's. I just did a bunch of research to try to find out if I could do this myself, and I came across an apple tech note that states that even some xserves g5 won't take 2GB sticks and how to find out if your machine supports them. If I recall correctly, Apple did initially state the G5 would have 2GB stick support, but later documents show the maximum for our machines between 4 - 8GBs.
