Thought I'd resurrect the competition for the holiday/winter season.

The topic is very wide to try and incorporate as many photos as possible. Anything to do with Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa (or another winter holiday I'm forgetting…), or the commercialization of them. Let's try to avoid pictures focusing on the winter season rather than the holidays.

Photos have to be taken between 1 Dec., 2007 and 15 Jan. 2008. On the 16th I'll try to remember to open a poll for a best-shot selection. If you took a picture that fits the assignment topic, but was taken before 1 December 2007, post it at https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/401269/.

Anyone can enter. Doesn't matter if the photo was taken with a camera-phone, small point and shoot camera, or DSLR. They should be photos you think are GOOD rather than just snapshots. Don't just post anything that fits the topic. That isn't the point. Post something you can be proud of.

If you have never done this before: READ THE RULES BEFORE YOU POST. The rules are rather basic, and a lot of it is common sense, but since we're self-moderated, we don't expect any bone-heads breaking all the rules just because they think they're an exception. Doesn't matter how good your photography is.

Happy Holidays, and happy shooting.

Not that I'm proud of this photo, since it was taken by accident, but nonetheless, I like it.:)

I was taking photos of my Christmass Tree (Holiday Tree, Family Tree or whatever is you call it:D) and I accidentally took a photo when the lens was completely out of focus.

This was the outcome:

Nikon D40x

Definitely. If you've read my posts in the HDR thread about… well… HDR, you know what I think of it. That said, it definitely fits into the parameters of artistic photography.

Well i posted this in the daily photo thread, but it belongs here more.
A christmas abstract image. Absolutely no post processing.
If you look at my flickr there is a couple other images that I did like this, but this one is my favorite because it holds the tree shape.

I like the idea here, but the background is too cluttered. Put up a sheet (or at least clear away some of the trash) and you've got a near-commercial quality advertisement. That is what you were shooting for, right?

my submission

My sister's cat Dwight under the christmas tree on christmas eve. handheld, 3 second exposure, ISO 800 with a D50. Post processed in CS3. I actually just saw this assignment, but I hope this still fits.

>>>>>>>Submissions Closed. Poll up.<<<<<<<

Sorry if there are any typos in the poll or I forgot anyone (I know I forgot one of my own photos; darn). As you can see, I tried to title untitled photos to help readers differentiate.
