New iMAC - "F1" - "F2" - etc, not working...?

Just got a new 24" iMAC and I can't get the "F" keys to work while playing games. They all have other assignments on them and whenever I hit "F1" to check the score during Halo for instance, nothing happens. The "F2" also has no response for my kid's Lego Star Wars game. What am I missing here?

Have you tried hitting fn-F1 .. fn-Fn? and/or in Preferences in the keyboard panel have you checked the option to use F1 .. Fn keys as standard function keys?

F1 Problem

Thanks for the fn tip - found the option in "System Preferences" the "Keyboard" to use the fn button and the function keys normally!
