You have given us all hope, except probably means $400 price tag for US.

Doesn't the UK get screwed on pricing though? (or am I thinking of Nikon)

But you're probably right. The X1900 is still there for $399, so the 8800GT will be at least that much, if not more. (Contrary to the economics of other hardware, Graphics cards are the only elements of a modern computer that have increased in price)

well, the 1900s started at 500 i think (i could be wrong) and they "came down" to 400, so maybe the 8800s will start at 400 and "come down" to 300 like every pc 8800 is.

hhmhmm

Well, I thought it was a PCIe 2.0 card - had no idea it was backward compatible. If we put it in our 2.66's will the card 'clock down' or anything?

£220?

Can't we save £70 and get an 8800GT from eBuyer? Will nVidia release drivers/kexts/whatevers needed to run it??

kexts/drivers aren't the problem as they'll eventually be part of the MacOS. What is the problem is the firmware on the card, you can't get that anywhere.

the kexts have been in leopard since its release. i've been using my 8800gtx on my hackintosh without any modifications.

The Dutch store has it too

I just ordered it from the Dutch store for €310 (€260 + VAT)
Delivery in 8 days.

The 8800GT is 310 € in the German store and the X1900XT is 400 €, unbelievable

Considering the MSRP of the Geforce 8800GT was supposed to be $249 for the 512MB version and $199 for the 256MB version everyone is getting shafted as it stands now ;)

The only conclusion you can draw from the apparent price differnce, something that FX traders have known for some time - the exchange rate is wrong!!

$2/£1 is an extraordinary exchange rate really when you think about it. I'm not an economist, but my brother is an FX trader, and he says the exchange rate is unbeliveable at the moment - expect a movement after the US elections apparently, dont know why though?

Just checked the Canadian store and it's posted for $349 here, it looks like Apple has caught up to the Dollar parity we have with the U.S. :)
