PS I should point out that's the price on the Irish Apple site (converted from Euros to Dollars) - it's probably $20,000 cheaper on the U.S. site.....but don't start me 😡

I was almost right - the maxed out price on the US site (with a couple of extras, eg printer and .mac subscription) = $27,340.90....about $10,000 cheaper!!

Holy smoley.

That is bordering on obscene. $10000!!! I'd take a first class flight over there and bring it back myself and still have change left over for a MBP!

I couldn't believe that price difference so double-checked. Okay, this time I left out the second display, software, wireless mouse and keyboard, all the other specs are identical (ie as chosen on the Irish and US stores).

Irish price: $33,075 (22,490 in Euros)

US price: $24,446

Incredible! The second display and software would bring the difference to over $10,000.

Okay, if you were rich enough to afford this machine it probably wouldn't bother you too much 🙂)) but that gap seems extraordinary to me. I know, I know, Apple products are always cheaper in the US than Europe....but by this much?!?!

PS Wonder is the gap as big if you bought on the UK site?
 
Do you have to add sales tax to the US price? The Irish price (and the UK one) will include VAT.

Aaaaaah, THANK YOU for the invitation! Really generous. Okay, I'll be there on Friday - make sure you're on time to collect me at the airport. And make sure there are 100% cotton sheets on my bed, I don't do polyester. I like tea (no offence, I'll bring my own tea-bags), toast and boiled eggs for breakfast (boil them right - not too hard, not too runny). Yeah, sales tax has to be added to that US price alright, but I saw another thread that mentioned a configuration worth $26,190 where the tax was only $1,570....still criminally cheaper than Europe.

If you were in India the maxed out version would cost you 1,294,720.890 Rupees. Crikey, you wouldn't want to be paying in cash. "One, two, three, four.........".

10 grand is a simply scandalous difference...that begins to make it worth the risk of smuggling one from the states.

You could actually go a lot higher than that -- the MacPro can support up to 8 displays -- that's $14K right there, plus about $21K for the computer (with four *downgraded* video cards), for $35K U.S.

But you might have a little trouble with the customs agents when you tried to cross the border with nine very LARGE boxes.
 
They should be selling these in boutiques in Moscow, with the main sales pitch being that this is the most expensive personal computer. I guarantee there will be lines of people waiting to buy those... 😱

Yeah the weak dollar means its better to buy direct from the US, not buy US products over here.

As for your second point, anyone got a boat? 😀
 
I wonder how many people will actually buy 32GB RAM from Apple with this. I guess somewhere under 20, its a ridiculous system they have going with memory, and it catches so many people who want just 1GB more, and can't be bothered to do it themselves. Shame on you Apple*.

*I take it back, I love you really. Ok, lets just be friends. With extras.
