2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme vs One 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor?

In an effort to stay away from the displays on iMac's, how does the 2.8GHz C2D Extreme compare with the (Single) 2.8Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon?

Advantages/disadvantages?

Is it worth the extra $500 for the Two 2.8GHZ Quad-Cores?

This is based on both systems with basic configuration and possible aftermarket upgrades on a machine to last 4-5 years.

The Xeon has the front side bus speed, cache, and 45nm advantage. I have a feeling Barefeats might be convinced in doing a 2.8 GHz showdown.

The single 2.8 GHz Penryn quad is good choice for a budget Mac Pro but Apple is offering the best value on the octo system. The single socket system processor upgradeability is up in the air still. Remember that you get a $400-500 discount for losing a ~$800 processor.

Can a single 2.8 Quad be upgraded to dual 2.8 Quads by just adding another processor? I'm assuming it would be no problem but I'm a neophyte in this stuff.
