Nationwide Wifi for iPhone?

Wondering if this is going to happen soon and would any national wifi work with existing iPhones. if so, need for 3G would appear moot.

Interesting. It's a shame that the spectrum they won isn't part of the big 700 Mhz auction going on right now and thus part of the open access rules that were applied to it. I mean, as an AT&T customer I'm sure I'll eventually benefit somehow, but that sort of plum should be shared.

Looks like the 3G iPhone was a red herring/dream. As a ATT customer for my landline/iPhone/DSL looks like I chose the right company. I'd love to be able to have free WiFi everywhere I go without having to go to a hotspot.

Also with this news here's hoping that they get the U-Verse TV in my neighborhood, that way I can dump Time-Warner cable. lol

One company that you never bet against is Ma-Bell/ATT.
