43" widescreen display not working with 2013 MacBook

Just got a 43" widescreen monitor. Works fine with new MBP (M1 Pro) but not with 2013 MBP. The display looks stretched, like when you drag a photo without using the corners - its all a bit squashed vertically and wider horizontally. I tried holding down OPTION when I selected the resolution (think mine is something like 3840x1200) but there is nothing close to that listed, it all seems to be non-widescreen. Using HDMI-HDMI.

Is there any way that MBP will work properly on here or is it just not compatible? I don't even think a 34" would work.

Try using DisplayPort instead of HDMI.

If it still doesn’t work:
What monitor do you have?
What MBP (13”, 15”, early/late 2013?)
What version of macOS?
