How hot should my macbook be getting?

I am using iStat Pro and notice the temperature really gets up there! The airport card reads 62 degrees this morning. I'm nervous about slowly cooking my laptop! This can't be good for the cpu's? Thanks for your help

I'm sure the MB has plenty of safeguards to stop it overheating.

occasionally i cook my eggs in the morning on my macbook. its very good for multipurpose use.

no but really, it does get hot sometimes. at random the fans will go bezerk and get hot. happens alot when the camera is on.

62 is not terrible. i'd be worrying if it goes beyond 90c.

Dont worry my CPU temp some times reaches 89 C. I showed my laptop to a "Genius" at the apple store and he said it was ok for the macbook to heat up to 80-90 C during full load.
I dint believe him, but I dint have other option.. do i?

I wouldn't want it (CPU) to spend too much time above 80 C (175 F). Short periods above that are ok.

my MBP averages 49 C - 75 C it goes above that with the iSight active or processor intensive apps...... I don't really notice the heat... since I have it on something called a Cool Channel Platform.. it is comfortable to use and it is the only thing that gets cool. (most of the time) BTW when I turn it on after it has been off for a while. it stays between 34 C - 40 C then eventually it heats up.

Also to MBP owners: Do you notice that most of the heat comes from the left side of the laptop.... especially under the left speaker grille.?

me neither. mine reaches up to 85'C when i do transcoding and stuff. around 65's my normal temp.

Pardon me, but how do I find out the temp of my CPU?

Is there something in the preferences? I've recently downloaded this http://www.conscius.de/~eidac/index.html because my Mac's fan was and still is running constantly, it's currently running at 77ish C, which I think is a little high.... That app does tell me the temp but I was wondering where I might find it.

Further more my Macbook's fan is still running, constantly, every time I turn the little bugger on. All my Firmware is up-to-date. I'm not sure how to remedy my problem!

Any takers?

My new MBP is running at about 89 degrees c at the moment. I think it is because Vuze is converting a file from one type to an other. I think I could cook with it.
