I would like to use it on my Mini that only has a combo.
It turns out, it has nothing to do with power requirements, it's simply a strange drive that Apple only has the drivers for the MBA. It won't work on anything else.

and ask for that feature... I guess they would have to do a firmware update so that all computers (Macs or PCs) can see it as a standard optical drive...

tv but i don't think they have a usb port on them do they? so yeah i think its stupid that they did not update all other macs to be able to use them.. think of the person with the old powerbook/ibook that doesn't have a superdrive and someone wants one it would be a perfect way to get a
