Just saw this ad (copied and pasted verbatim) on craig's list:
Selling a slightly used 15.4" Macbook Pro. I'm asking for $685 for this laptop. I have used the laptop for presentations and internet, so there is only light use so far.
I don't need such a powerful laptop so I am selling it. specs:

Features: 15.4" Macbook Pro, 2.16 Ghz Core 2 Duo Processor, 2 Gigs Ram, 100 Gig HD, Superdrive DCD+-RW Drive, Airport Extreme, iSight camera
The laptop comes loaded with Adobe Creative Suite CS3, MS Office 2004 and Final Cut Pro Studio. The OS is Leopard 10.5

What do you guys think?

It's local though, I could check it out, too good to be true?

Sounds like a scam

Just curious, did you see that on NYC CL? Because I saw the exact same ad a couple days ago on there

EDIT: In response to joshcampbell115, it doesn't really matter what software is installed, a sizable portion of CL and eBay laptops have pirated software installed, so that's not really part of the cost.

I can't believe how many people think they are going to find the cheapest, greatest deal on relatively new hardware on craigslist. Even if the person is local and agrees to meetup, it doesn't lend them any credibility - unless of course they'll meet you at a police station. Go ahead, meet them in some mall parking lot - get yourself an ass kicking and lose some cash. That classic expression of a deal seeming to good to be true applies more now today then ever.

if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

You already knew it was a scam, they just got you excited for a moment.

Why do people ALWAYS post asking if that's a scam... Hello, duh, it is a scam... Especially if it is a thousand or so under the asking price... Or it could be a typo...

Ok, I got it, it's a scam, case closed, I was just hoping beyond hope and wanted some confirmation that it wasn't all in my head.

I was just asking a question, jeez, people are really flame-happy today.

SCAM SCAM SCAM.

:D

Saw the same ad in Memphis, TN CraigsList. Just thought I'd e-mail the guy to see what his ploy was... and what do you know! He's in England! Haha.

Scam all the way.
