Hi all,
I'm running a 2.8 ghz 8-core MP, and I just ordered 2x2gb from OWC. I can't really afford to get more right now, so I'll probably add another 2x2gb later. Anyhow, I have no idea of which slots I should put the 2gb RAM and where to put the existing 2x1gb. Should I even leave the 2x1 gb for a total of 6gb, or just go with the 2gb pairs for a total of 4? I use a lot of Photoshop, After Effects, and C4d. Thanks-

I suggest you read the little white book that came with your MP. It's all in there. If you can't do that, then download the user's guide from Apple. If you still can't do that, then put your 2GB sticks in the upper riser, slots 1 & 2. Put your Apple 1GB sticks in the lower riser, slots 1 & 2.

I have the same RAM config as you.

You need to put 2,2 on top and 1,1 on bottom.

I tried 1,1 on top and 2,2 on bottom but it did not recognize the new OWC RAM.
