Hi,
I bought my iPoT 2days ago. On the first night, I left it to charge with an official apple charger (which is 5 years old, from my first gen nano). It didn't charge. It shows the screen but doesn't charge.
So all day yesterday left it on my mac - same thing.

Is it a faulty battery? Are there any tests I can do?
Here's what it always looks like:
When it is not connected to anything

When I have it as ''charging''.

Thanks for your help.

EDIT: Oh and if i have to take it back, I'm screwed aren't I? (Jailbroken).

youve ran out man… you need to get some more. i never new Apple got into the underground drug syndicate?

seriously though why are you using an iPod charger from a Nano on your iPod Touch? you should use the one you got with your Touch. thats the problem right there. also the 1st gen iPod Nanos where released 3 years ago not 5!?

wtf is an iPot? Yes, use the cable which came with your Touch. Also, no you are not;t screwed. If you do a restore, it goes back to original state, it won't be jailbroken anymore.

i dunno if this helps but in terms of jailbroken...do a restore so it goes to "plug into itunes" or something and basically formats the ipod and then take it in...

EDIT: oops, ^^ beat me to it

I can't charge through anything. I can't take a photo because I'm at work but it's just one of the Apple Chargers with a USB port on the back of it to plug your cable.
It's connected to my mac here now, shows the second picture from first post... but nothing. :)

Have you tried connecting a USB cable directly to the computer? Don't use that wall adapter. How did you jailbreak if you can't charge?

so if your using the white USB cable that came with your iPod Touch connected to your Mac and its still not charging then you probably have a faulty battery. ring Apple Support its free phone support for 90 days from the purchase date or take it to an Apple Store.

When I got it, it worked until I unplugged it (presumably keeping itself going(?)). I have left it charging over night on my iMac and with my wall adapter. Currently plugged into a Mac Mini. :)

richthomas: I was hoping it wouldn't come to that, damn. Thanks anyway.
Now I suppse I've got to de-jailbreak it first, which isn't going to happen. :/

Yup^

I don't suppose I should be worried about it being jailbroken, should I? Aside from all my passwords on there :)mad:) the battery is dead and I doubt they would check there and then (PC World (no apple store anywhere here)) they would just replace it.

Wahey, iTunes is now restoring the iPod :D
Thanks for all the help guys.

EDIT: whoops got a bit carried away, sorry for the three posts.
