Sweden
I bought a new iPhone 15 Pro through my carrier yesterday.

I did get a really good deal on it, otherwise i should have waited for 16.

The thing is that here i Sweden you have 60 days to decide for Apple Care Plus.
And also you have 14 days to decide if you want the phone or not, when you buying it online.
Quessing that this is quite common over the world?

The thing is, when i started my phone yesterday i had only 47 days left to decide for Apple Care Plus.

So my question is, can i assume that someone have activated the iPhone and used it for almost 14 days and sent it back? And should i return it?
Or I'm a just overreacting?

It’s still plenty of time to decide whether you want the phone or not, as well as whether you go with AppleCare plus or not. I vaguely remember in Australia they offer 60 days for AppleCare purchase grace period also, up from previous 30 days, and standard 14 days to decide, though returning phone back to carrier is hard if you buy it off of a plan.

Here’s another thing to consider:
I’ve owned 8 iPhones so far and never had Apple Care and never needed it.
So — I’ll never purchase it.
Thanks for replying.

But my concern is not to get Apple Care or not.
My concern is if anyone had the phone before me and used it over a week and returned it to my carrier, and then my carrier sold it to me for a new phone.

I just checked the battery cycles and they are none, so I’m just overthinking and overreacting🙂
I’m gonna leave this behind me now.
Thanks for replying

I’ll be honest I’ve never truly understood how the “60 days” has worked - I can’t remember which iPhone it was but had one ‘new’ from a previous mobile phone company here in the UK and it was a similar time frame to you, even though it was brand new.

Same goes with the Beats Solo 4 I’ve just treated myself to - only had 14 days to add Apple Care 🤷

If you purchase it from a third party, like a carrier, the carrier reports the purchase date to Apple. Therefore, you end up with <60 days. If you buy from Apple, the warranty is based on activation date.

Let me see if I understand: You think your iPhone was a returnee that your carrier off-loaded to you at a heavy discount.

Under the circumstances, the decision to return the phone, if I were in your shoes, hinges on AppleCare coverage.

If you bought it outright then I strongly suggest AppleCare+:
  • AppleCare+ officially registers the phone under your name with Apple.
  • During the AppleCare+ purchase process, they run a diagnostic check on your device. If it passes, you're covered for any future gremlins that might pop up.
However, if the iPhone is part of a carrier financing plan or subscription program:
  • Check compatibility: See if AppleCare+ is compatible with your specific carrier agreement. Some plans might not allow it.
  • Consider returning (if incompatible): If AppleCare+ isn't compatible, and you're concerned about potential issues, returning the phone to the carrier might be the best option.

No. People seem to have a really hard time understanding your question. :D

I just used mine since my phone fell in the pool for a good minute. Coughed up 99 bucks and got a brand new spanking iPhone.

What iPhone was that? One minute in the pool actually killed it? I had my iPhone 7 going through a washing machine cycle for about 5 minutes and it came out sparkling clean and working. Its speakers needed to dry a bit to sound properly again, but otherwise no issues.

iPhone 15 pro max. Just crappy luck I suppose.
