Sorry, but the GMA950 can only access 64MB to use as VRAM.
minimum memory allocation for the x3100 is 144mb. it can access up to 384mb if needed. The newer MacBooks have the X3100 which can use up to 144MB of memory.

Neither one is as good as the Radeon 9550 that was in the last iBook though. Apple should be ashamed for taking roughly 3 generational steps backwards regarding the GPU in the MacBooks.
Do you have a source for this?
Because it really isn't true -

Thats in Windows.
In OS X you're limited to 144MB regardless. The GMA 950 is limited to 64MB regardless in OS X and can access more in Windows.
GMA 950
The GMA 950 allocates a base amount of 80 MB for video and boot processes at startup. For example, a Mac mini (Mid 2007) with 512 MB of RAM installed has 432 MB of memory available to Mac OS X and applications (512-80=432).
Depending on the application or task being accomplished, Mac OS X may make additional main memory available to the graphics processor for texture use beyond the base amount mentioned above. The most common types of applications that request more system memory to be used as graphics memory are 3D and graphics-intense applications. The most common task would be video mirroring or extended desktop.
That's not entirely true.
Mac mini (Early 2006), MacBook, iMac (Mid 2006): About the Graphics Processor
I can vouch for oldblivion. It made Oblivion usable on my old FX5500/128.
So once again, Apple has multiple stories for a single topic on their website. Nice. Also, it clearly says video AND boot processes. 64MB video + 16MB boot processes = 80MB. Duh.
Duh what? You said 64MB is max. Apple says it is not.
Really? Where? I must admit this info is well tucked away and for about a year I thought it was capped at 64MB too. Lucid information is not one of Apple's strong points. Just look at the description of there software updates. "Fixes bugs." Very informative. 🙄Yet on other pages on the Apple site, the story is different. Just like the conflicting Apple Cinema Display specs.

I wouldn't even consider laptop gaming in general. It's an exercise in futility.
Unless you like spending $1,500 - 2,000 a year on a laptop.
Minitower in signature is made of parts from the past 9 months for under US$700.You can get plenty of PCs that are faster than the MBP for $700+ less.

Why spend more then US$1,500?
